SELECT is a members-only “black card” for Millennials that is blowing up worldwide. With over 10,000 global members and triple digit year over year growth, SELECT is straight crushing it. They currently have hubs in Miami, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.- but have aggressive plans to expand into more global markets in 2017.
This week I had the opportunity to connect with Carlo Cisco, the 29 year old founder of SELECT to learn more the brand. I really enjoyed our conversation and was inspired by how passionate Carlo is about connecting Millennials to brands and each other worldwide. To learn more about SELECT let’s hear from the founder himself.
So Carlo, what is SELECT?
What gave you the idea?
So who is the typical SELECT member?
What makes SELECT different than Founders Card or Magnises?
“Founders Card started to connect entrepreneurs and is more of an entrepreneurial brand. They offer travel rewards, but at SELECT we have over 1000 times the number of hotels than Founders Card. We also have more exclusive partner relationships with our hotel partners because they want to reach our audience. We just have more relationships. We also accept members who aren’t just entrepreneurs – and our members come from many industries. We also host more events and offer a member based text concierge for on-demand travel and event planning help.”
“Magnises really started as a Millennial social club membership with unlimited free drinks then switched to “hot spots” where members receive 1 free drink for them and a guest and can hang out or work. They have actually had three different spaces in New York so they keep moving around. They also have 3 or 4 other “hot spots” in other cities. If a “hot spot” is somewhere to drink, work, or socialize then we have hundreds of them. At SELECT we are also curating a bunch of different high end experiences – like offering pre-sale concert ticket access, we had recently let members see Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke for free, and also have a Veuve Clicquot event partnership in Miami. With even more event plans on the way.”
Since I live in Chicago I have to ask, when are you bringing Select to Chicago?
“Chicago is on the short list of next cities we are trying to expand to in 2017. We are also looking into international cities as well. We already have members in Chicago, Hong Kong, London, and many other cities and they just keep growing. We will get to them soon and have no plans to slow down.”
SELECT Platform Review
After connecting with Carlo he gave me the chance to test drive the platform, There are some sick deals available on everything from hotels and rental cars, to guest list access at many nightspots and deals on private jet travel. Memberships are $300 per year, but you can quickly get that savings after only a few bookings
I am planning to use SELECT to book a hotel for a business trip next month in San Francisco and I’m looking into Miami events planned for the upcoming few months (so I can escape the brutal Chicago winter). With new benefits being added frequently, I am stoked to further explore SELECT as I travel over the next few months. I’ll make sure to keep you posted on what it’s like using SELECT, but one thing is clear: It’s not wonder why SELECT is growing so quickly – it really does help you live a richer life. It’s just what I need.
