IdentityIQ is one of the fastest-growing identity theft prevention services. They also offer credit monitoring, credit reporting, identity theft insurance, and identity restoration services.
According to a recent study, between 7% and 10% of individuals have their identities stolen each year.
Making matters worse, seniors and children are the most frequent targets of identity theft, and one in five of those victims will be targeted more than once.
In this post, I’m going to provide a detailed analysis of IdentityIQ and discuss the main services they offer. I’ll also go over how much their plans cost and answer some common questions I hear about the company.
What is IdentityIQ?
IdentityIQ is a division of IDIQ that offers a variety of services related to identity theft protection and credit monitoring. The company was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Temecula, Calif.
Very simply, IdentityIQ monitors the internet, dark web, and credit monitoring services for suspicious activity associated with its customers’ data.
If your identity gets stolen, the company can help you resolve any complications that may arise.
Let’s take a closer look at the plans you can get with IdentityIQ.

IdentityIQ’s SecurePlus plan costs $9.99 each month.
IdentityIQ SecurePlus Plan Includes the same features as the Secure Plan, plus:
- IQ alerts with application monitoring, which notifies you if someone applies for a new account in your name (like a credit card account, payday loan, or bank account).
- Address change monitoring
The SecurePro plan is the next level up and costs $19.99 each month.
IdentityIQ SecurePro features all of the same features as SecurePlus, plus:
- Enhanced three-bureau credit report monitoring
- Alerts if your credit score changes
- Monitoring of criminal and conviction records (and alerts if your name pops up)
4. Secure Max
IdentityIQ’s SecureMax plan is their premium account and costs $29.99 each month.
IdentityIQ Secure Max includes all of the same features as SecurePro, plus:
- Credit score tracker, which tracks your credit score over time
- Credit score simulator, which helps you predict how your credit score might be affected by a future transaction (e.g., signing up for a new auto loan or credit card)
- Coverage up to $25,000 for family-related identity theft restoration costs
- Limited power of attorney (LPOA) fraud restoration services
How Does IdentityIQ Work?
IdentityIQ has four different plans that include different features, depending on which ones are important to you and how much you want to spend. Let’s cover the basics of how their services work.
Credit Reporting and Score Delivery
IdentityIQ can provide you with up to 12 credit reports each year, from either one-bureau or three-bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and Transunion). Once you get your report, you’ll be able to review it to make sure there hasn’t been any fraudulent activity (e.g., someone else signing up for a credit card using your Social Security number).
Your credit score is affected by a variety of factors. It’s important to stay on top of your score because it has a significant impact on your ability to secure financing (e.g., credit cards and mortgages). It can also impact your ability to lease an apartment since landlords might not want to rent to folks with poor credit scores.
IdentityIQ monitors activity related to your credit score round-the-clock and sends you a daily report with any changes to your address or personal information.
The report also includes information about any new credit inquiries made on your behalf, if any new public records were made with your information, whether there have been any recent financial judgments against you, or if new accounts or loans were created with your identity.
Enhanced Credit Monitoring
IdentityIQs enhanced credit monitoring service includes the same features as basic credit monitoring with the addition of alerts if your TransUnion credit score changes by 10 or more points.
Enhanced credit monitoring also includes surveillance of authorized card user activity on your credit card accounts and alerts you if your bankcard goes over the limit.
Further, if you have any collections activity reported against you, and if any of your credit cards have been reported as lost or stolen, IdentityIQ will notify you.
Dark Web Monitoring
The dark web is an anonymous area of the internet where hackers and cybercriminals conduct their business. For example, if your identity or credit card information is stolen, it might be shared or sold over the dark web to someone who wants to make a fraudulent purchase or open a new credit card in your name.
IdentityIQ continuously monitors the dark web for activity that contains your Social Security number, name, or mailing address. If they pick up on something fishy, they will immediately let you know.
One area where identity theft can be a tremendous burden is if a criminal uses your name to commit a crime. Or if, for example, they are caught committing a crime and produce a false ID card to the police with your information on it.
IdentityIQ also monitors national and international criminal records to make sure your name doesn’t come up. They will notify you if someone tries to use your Social Security number with the wrong name or address, too.
If your identity is stolen, one of the most common ways that thieves will try to monetize it is by signing up for new accounts in your name (e.g., payday loans, cell phone plans, and credit cards). IdentityIQ monitors for any new application that has your information on it so you can make sure that nothing is going on without your knowledge.
Identity Theft Insurance
IdentityIQ customers get up to $1 million in identity theft insurance that covers any damages you may incur if you’re the victim—like lost wages, legal fees, or stolen funds.
This policy is underwritten by AIG, and there’s no deductible if you need to make a claim.
Putting the pieces back together after your identity is stolen can be a huge hassle. If this happens to you, IdentityIQ will assign you a dedicated U.S.-based case manager who will help you restore your identity.
Unfortunately, children are one of the most common victims of identity theft. If you have kids, you might want to consider signing up for IdentityIQ’s SecureMax plan that extends coverage to children living in your home.
Synthetic Identity Theft Protection
IdentityIQ protects you from synthetic identity theft, which occurs when a criminal uses your Social Security number to create a new identity and then uses that fake identity to sign up for something like a credit card or car loan.
To get your IdentityIQ account started, click the red Start Membership button in the top right-hand corner of your browser. You can also click on Get Protected Now in the middle of your screen.
At the next step, enter your first name, last name, email address, and mailing address. You’ll also create a username and password.
Once that’s done, enter your credit card information, Social Security number, and date of birth. You can also enter a coupon code on this step if you have one.
It’s that easy! Your account is ready to go, and you now have the peace of mind that comes with knowing your identity is being monitored 24/7.
IdentityIQ’s website is powered by McAfee Secure, which means that it has a secure website certificate and doesn’t contain any malware, suspicious links, or phishing activity.
The site also has a SecureTrust Trusted Commerce seal, so I feel pretty safe using their platform.
IdentityIQ offers phone support Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Time.
On Saturdays, phone support is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There are no phone agents available on Sundays.
Their phone number is 1-877-875-4347.

Avoid websites that aren’t secure and never click on emails that are suspicious because they could be phishing scams. It’s also a good idea to ignore robocalls, as there have been an increasing amount of sophisticated over-the-phone scams in recent years.
