Using the Costco Anywhere Visa Card earns 4% on gas purchases around the world. This includes Costco gas stations. You’ll earn this higher rate for the first $7,000 spent and then 1% after that.

Rewards earning doesn’t end with gas purchases, though. There’s also high rewards earning for categories like dining out, travel purchases, and Costco store purchases.

There is no annual fee with the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi, but it does require a Costco membership.

There are no bonus categories to activate or anything you need to do other than use the card for your gas purchases. It also comes with a $200 cash back sign-up bonus if you spend $500 in the first three months.

Chase Freedom Unlimited isn’t winning any beauty contests, but it earns consistent rewards with every single purchase. Like the Chase Freedom card, if you have another Chase card connected to the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, you can transfer and convert rewards into Ultimate Rewards points.

While this card is good for everyday spending, it’s not suitable for international travel since it charges 3% foreign transaction fees.

Here’s the catch: after hitting $2,500 combined purchases between your chosen category and grocery store/wholesale clubs, you’ll only earn 1% cash back. While this makes tracking your rewards difficult, what we do know is that you can earn tons of cash back for gas purchases if you choose that as your bonus category.

In terms of being a good gas card, this Discover card earns 2% cash back on gas and dining out up to $1,000 in combined purchases every quarter. That means you can earn cash back on up to $4,000 in gas purchases annually if you desired.

Other spending earns 1% cash back, which isn’t great, but Discover it Student Chrome helps students build credit and even gives rewards for good grades.

In terms of earning potential for gas purchases, Chase Freedom has the highest earnings at 5% but is only offered part of the year as a rotating bonus category.

The PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa Signature Card earns 5x on gas purchases but requires you to be a member of the Pentagon Federal Credit Union to qualify.

Are gas credit cards worth it?

If you spend a considerable amount of money every year on gas purchases, having a gas credit card is worth it. The key is to pay off your card every month to avoid costly interest charges. Having to pay interest lessens the value of any rewards you may have earned.

What is the easiest gas credit card to get?

Of the gas credit cards on our list, the easiest card to get, in terms of credit, is the Discover it® Student Chrome. It has a minimum requirement of fair credit, which is a credit score of 620-659. It does require that you be a college student, though, which limits who can apply.

All of the other gas credit cards on our list have a minimum requirement of good credit, which is a credit score of 660-719.
