IHG®️ Rewards Club Premier Credit Card

ihg rewards club premier credit card
  • 40 points per dollar spent during the first year at IHG hotels
United Kingdom-based IHG Hotels operates 17 hotel brands across the globe, including Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Stabridge, and Regent Hotels & Resorts.

The company’s IHG®️ Rewards Club Premier credit card pays a healthy reward of 25 points per dollar spent (40 points per dollar spent during the first year) at an IHG property.

These points will add up quickly for regular travelers. However, you can redeem your points only through IHG’s points portal which can limit their value when compared to a card that pays cash.

IHG will let you use the points to help pay airfare with select carriers and to shop for electronics, magazines, and gift cards. The company also lets you transfer points to another cardholder or even donate their dollar value to a charity.

Cardholders can also claim extra perks like early check-in, extended check-out, and free room upgrades where available.

  • Great For: Regular travelers who are loyal IHG®️ hotel customers.
  • Current Offer: Bonus points (40 per dollar spent) during the first year of your account. You can also earn 4 points per dollar during the first year on gas, groceries, and eating out. After the first year this decreases to 2 points per dollar. All other purchases are eligible for 1 point per dollar spent.
  • Premium Hotel & Travel Rewards: Account holders can claim a free night in participating IHG hotels each year after the anniversary date of the card. If you spend $3,000 in the first three months of holding the account, you can earn 125,000 bonus points.
  • Annual Fee: $89

The World Of Hyatt Credit Card

the world of hyatt credit card
  • 1 free night at any category 1-4 Hyatt after your cardmember anniversary
You’ll find Hyatt hotels in the downtown areas of large and mid-size U.S. cities, making the chain a popular choice for business travelers.

Frequent guests of Hyatt hotels can save by opening a World of Hyatt credit card account, especially if they can capitalize on the card’s introductory offer:

  • The card will pay 25,000 bonus points if you spend $3,000 in the first three months of holding the account.
  • You can earn a second 25,000 points by spending another $3,000 within six months of opening the account.

To put this into context, you could trade 5,000 points for a free standard room for one night at a Hyatt hotel.

After this introductory offer, your potential for earning points diminishes to a more standard level: 4 points per dollar spent at a Hyatt hotel and 2 points per dollar spent at restaurants, on local transit and commuting, airfare purchased directly from an airline, and on fitness club and gym memberships.

Hyatt doesn’t operate as many properties as most of the companies on this list. This can limit your ability to save with the card if you travel in more rural areas.

  • Great For: Regular guests of Hyatt hotels
  • Current Offer: 25,000 points for spending $3,000 in the first three months; 25,000 points for spending a total of $6,000 in the first six months.
  • Premium Hotel & Travel Rewards: 1 free night’s stay after each anniversary of the account plus an additional free night if you spent $15,000 on the card during the year; 5,000 bonus points for referring a friend who gets approved for an account.
  • Annual Fee: $95

Is a Hotel Rewards Credit Card For You?

Some of these cards are co-branded, meaning that the powers of a credit card brand and a hotel brand have united to give you the ultimate luxury experience.

The only caveat is that this luxury experience is limited to one particular hotel brand. Think of it as being in “the club.” But if you’re looking for more flexibility, you can opt for a travel rewards card that allows you to redeem hotel and travel perks anywhere you go.

Most of these types of credit cards require a good or excellent credit score of 690 or above. If your score is not high enough yet, you can check out some of our recommendations for best cards for building your credit.
