If you’re looking to open a Novo account to take care of your business banking, continue reading.

This Novo review has been prepared just for you.

About Novo Bank

Novo Bank is a limited-service bank. This means that it doesn’t offer all of the services a big bank usually provides.

Instead, it focuses on the needs of small business owners, entrepreneurs, and freelancers.

Having said that, it is important to note that not everyone has the same financial and banking needs.

This is why it’s important to understand what the bank actually offers its customers before going ahead and opening an account with them.

Novo Bank offers only one type of account – a checking account.  The bank also offers integration with several services.

As most business owners depend on a variety of online tools to conduct their business, the ability to integrate with such a wide variety of services can help them ensure that their processes run smoother.

Currently, Novo can connect with the following apps and services:

  • Slack
  • Stripe
  • Intuit Quickbooks
  • Zapier
  • TransferWise
  • Xero

The bank promises that more services and apps will be added soon. If there is a specific app or service your business depends heavily upon, then this is a space definitely worth watching.

As a completely online bank, Novo Bank also has mobile apps. There are two versions available.

One is for Android, and this can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. The other is for iOS devices, which can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store.

You can also use the bank’s website. This is accessible from any computer that has a web browser and, of course, an internet connection.

As for all intents and purposes, Novo is an online bank. The app has many features that allow you to do all of your banking online, like:

  • Receiving transaction notifications
  • Ability to link your Novo MasterCard to Apple Pay or Google Pay
  • Making and receiving payments

Novo Bank Business Checking Account

As mentioned earlier, Novo Bank only offers one type of bank account – a business checking account that comes with a few out of the box features designed to help business owners get on top of their finances.

In fact, it is one of the best business checking accounts on the market right now, especially if you’re into a mobile-first experience.

You can use your Novo business checking account to make payments, process transfers via ACH (Automated Clearing House), deposit checks, transfer from other bank accounts, as well as receive wire transfers. These can be both domestic as well as international.

One of the downsides of online-only banks is that you cannot deposit cash. Instead, you’ll have to get a money order and then deposit that as a check through the mobile app.

While the bank does not make use of physical paper checks, should you want to issue one, you can still ask them to issue one for you.

The account also comes with a Mastercard debit card. The card can be used at any ATM, and Novo Bank will refund all fees you might get charged. This is a handy perk since the bank does not have its own ATM network.

As Novo Bank is an online-only bank, the account can be managed entirely online. You can download transactions in CSV format to process it in spreadsheet software such as Excel or import directly into your accounting software, including Quickbooks and Xero.

If you’re looking for a full-service bank, then Novo Bank might not be for you since they do not offer the full range of banking services and products.

Having said that, if you’re looking for a business checking account to easily and efficiently manage your small business or freelance practice, then Novo Bank could very well be the bank you’re looking for.

Security

When it comes to banks, security is an important topic to consider. Your money’s safety is of the utmost importance, and the bank does not disappoint here.

The account is FDIC insured up to $250,000, and they are partnered with Middlesex Federal Savings, who ultimately hold the accounts.

Bank Novo also promises to take information security very seriously. They use the banking industry’s standard encryption, so everything stays safe and secure.

It is also highly recommended to make use of a secure password when setting up your account to avoid unauthorized access.

Should this happen, the customer support team is on standby to protect your account, so all you’ll need to do is contact them.
