Opinion Outpost is a survey website with over 350,000 members. The company is owned and operated by Dynata, which was formerly known as Survey Sampling International.
Dynata is one of the world’s leading market research firms, operating in over 100 countries. The company also manages several other survey websites, including Survey Spot, Opinion World, OneOpinion, and QuickThoughts.
Opinion Outpost gets paid by market research companies to collect data about its members. This is how they can pay you for completing surveys.
As a subscriber, you can take surveys on the website in exchange for points. These points can then be redeemed for cash, gift cards, and other things (more on that later).
The amount of points you get for taking surveys depends on how long each survey takes to complete and how much personal information you need to disclose to satisfy the survey questionnaire. Generally speaking, the longer the survey is, and the more time it takes to complete, the more points you can earn.
How it Works
When you log in to your account for the first time, Opinion Outpost will ask you detailed personal questions to match you with relevant surveys. The data you provide in these answers will determine which surveys you see in your account.
For example, if you indicate that you own a car, you’ll most likely be paired with surveys that collect information about car usage or insurance memberships. If you disclose that you’re a smoker, you might get paired with surveys that ask your opinions on smoking cessation. You get the gist.

Next, let’s take a look at what your account dashboard will look like and how you can start making money.
Surveys
Opinion Outpost’s dashboard is a little different from other survey websites. Rather than having a dedicated “survey page” that lists a variety of available surveys, the company’s approach is more customized and interactive.
To take your first survey, click on the green ‘Take a Survey!’ button at the top of the dashboard. The first one that populated for me was medical-related, as shown below.
After engaging with the medical survey, I started to get matched with other types of surveys. I may be missing something, but it appears that the only way to access surveys in your account is through that same ‘Take a Survey!’ button in the center of your dashboard.
In that light, you won’t be able to see how long a survey is and how many points you’ll earn from completing it until you start taking one. I find this to be somewhat annoying.
Here’s why: Let’s say you only have five or ten minutes to spare. You might wind up wasting all of that time trying to find a survey due to not qualifying for the first surveys that you’re paired with.
On other survey websites — like InboxDollars or Survey Junkie—it’s much easier to see how long a survey will take and how much you’ll earn before getting started.
Email Offers
As an Opinion Outpost subscriber, you will get exclusive surveys sent to your email inbox.
I do like the fact that you can see the reward amount and survey length right in the email. That makes it easy to figure out whether or not you have enough time to spare before getting started.
Refer a Friend
One of the easiest ways to earn Opinion Outpost points is by referring friends. You’ll earn $1 worth of points for each new member that you recruit, up a maximum of five members.
Keep in mind that you’ll only earn credit if you copy and paste your unique referral link from your account and, as shown below (of course, your friends have to click that link, too).
Rewards
In the Rewards section of your account, you can choose how to cash out the points you’ve earned.
It’s worth noting that Opinion Outpost offers some interesting ways to redeem your points, which we’ll explore next.
1. PayPal
You can earn cash from your Opinion Outpost points by transferring them to PayPal. You’ll need at least 100 points in order to take this route, and you’ll also need a verified PayPal account.
2. Transfer Rewards to United MileagePlus
If you’re a frequent flier, you can transfer your Opinion Outpost points right to your United MileagePlus account. At the time of this writing, 105 Opinion Outpost points will net you a cool 300 miles. It would probably take you a year’s worth of points to earn a free flight.
However, this feature might be helpful if you’re just a couple hundred miles short of a free flight with your existing mileage balance.
3. Alawar Games Credits
Fans of Alawar’s casual online games, like Farm Frenzy 4, can redeem points for game credits.
For example, 30 Opinion Outpost credits get you one Alawar PC Game Online Gift ID. With over 250 games to choose from, make sure that you don’t burn too much time playing games!
4. Redeem for Amazon Gift Cards.
Amazon shoppers can use their points to get free Amazon gift cards, which appears the lowest barrier of entry for redeeming a gift card; 50 Opinion Outpost chalks up to a $5 Amazon gift card.
5. App Store and iTunes Gift Card
Apple fans can exchange points for App Store and iTunes gift cards. You’ll need at least 100 Opinion Outpost points to receive a $10 gift card.
6. American Red Cross
You can even donate your rewards directly to the American Red Cross. As little as five points amount to a donation of $0.50.
Fees and How to Get Paid
Opinion Outpost is 100% free to sign up for, and there are no monthly fees or subscriptions.
To get paid, visit the Rewards section of your account. From there, you’ll have the option of redeeming your Opinion Outpost points for cash on PayPal, free gift cards, and more.
Getting Started
Signing up for Opinion Outpost is quick and easy. First, enter your gender, first name, last name, and email address.
Next, you’ll receive an activation email. Click on the Confirm Your Email button to verify your email address and proceed to the next steps.
After confirming your email, you’ll be sent to a form that requests more personal information—like your ethnicity, income level, and home address.
On the next page, you’ll answer some additional questions about your education level and household members.
Once that’s done, your account is ready to go.
Security
I do not see anything on the Opinion Outpost website that discusses security features. There also wasn’t any information on Opinion Outpost’s holding company website (Dynata) about security. Sketchy!
That said, I can tell you is that Opinion Outpost uses a secure web portal, so that’s good news. What’s more, the company has a 4.1-star rating (out of 5) on Trustpilot, with over 1,400 reviews. That’s not too shabby.
At the same time, I also see some colorful reviews from frustrated customers on Trustpilot. Do your due diligence and assess your options before deciding whether Opinion Outpost is right for you.

Is Opinion Outpost Worth My Time?
If your goal is to earn a few extra bucks by taking surveys online, Opinion Outpost should be added to your list of websites to look into. As an Opinion Outpost member, you really can make money by taking legitimate market research surveys.
On the other hand, if your goal is to find a side hustle that pays more than $100 each week, you probably shouldn’t sign up for Opinion Outpost—or any survey website for that matter.
The return on investment for your time only equates to a few dollars earned per hour—and that’s in a best-case scenario. If earning money is the goal, I can think of many better side hustle ideas.
