This article includes links which we may receive compensation for if you click, at no cost to you.

You’re here to learn about surveys for money? Great—we’ve got you covered! There are dozens of legitimate survey sites to make extra cash. However, not every online survey site or survey company is reputable, and some are more lucrative than others.

Selecting the right paid survey websites can make a big difference, especially since you won’t qualify for every survey you see. Surveys for money have requirements that determine eligibility, usually based on demographic information and your personal habits, so you don’t want to waste time on a website that isn’t legit or going to pan out for you.

We’ve spent a bunch of time figuring out the best surveys for money sites to make legitimate money today. They are Millennial Money tested and approved! Consider this your ultimate guide to surveys for money.

Also be sure to check out the FAQ, and our Ultimate Paid Survey ROI Calculator at the bottom of the page to help you figure out which survey site is most worth your time!

1. InboxDollars

With a quick sign-up process and simple format, InboxDollars works on a real cash reward system, not a point system. They have a lot of surveys for money to choose from, but many of them aren’t going to net you a lot of money.

However, if you do a few quick surveys regularly throughout the day, you can earn quite a bit in less time than you’d think.

Another cool thing I like is that InboxDollars offers rewards for playing online games, watching videos, reading emails, and doing online shopping that you would be doing regularly anyway. Real cash checks are awesome, but you can also get paid with an Amazon gift card or regular gift vouchers.

Eligibility: Joining InboxDollars only takes about 30 seconds. But, to become a member you need to be at least 18 years old and live in the United States.

2. LifePoints

LifePoints is one of the largest influencer communities worldwide and awarded $28 million to its members in the last year alone. The company also offers a welcome bonus of 10 LifePoints for new users.

Compared to other survey sites, qualifying for paid surveys on LifePoints is a bit easier. This is a key factor when signing up for any online survey company.

Most of their surveys can be completed in 10 minutes or less. This can lead to slightly less in payout per survey; however, the ROI of your time is comparable and you won’t have to worry about being tied to any one survey for 30 minutes or longer.

Eligibility: To join LifePoints you must be 16 years of age and live in the United States or Canada.

3. Branded Surveys

Branded Surveys is a platform that pays you for completing online surveys and other tasks.

They have a user-friendly site that is simple to navigate and their signup process is quick. You’ll receive 100 points just for signing up, and then they have several “get to know you” type of survey questions that only take a couple of minutes to complete, but earn you another 10-50 points each for those quick surveys.

Then there’s the Branded Elite loyalty program. Here’s how it works: As you take surveys, you advance through three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold. You move up levels by collecting credits for each completed survey or task like referring friends and family. Higher levels unlock more earning potential and better survey opportunities.

Cashing out your points is really easy, and you can get money sent to your PayPal account, use Branded Pay (which is just a bank transfer in the United States), or redeem a bunch of different gift card offers.

The platform currently has over 2 million users and has paid out over $17,000,000 since its inception.

One downside to Branded Surveys is that some surveys take you off their platform to answer each question. The other sites might be slower or harder to use than the Branded Surveys main site, which can be annoying.

Eligibility: To join this survey website you have to be at least 16 years old and live in the United States, UK, or Canada.

4. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is one of the most legitimate survey companies for earning extra cash while you’re waiting for the bus, on your lunch break, or even vegging on the couch watching Netflix. I like to earn money with Survey Junkie as I wake up in the morning and while multi-tasking throughout the day.

Just by signing up and completing your profile, you’ll earn points right off the bat. From there you get paid points for each completed survey, and when you reach the payout threshold, your points can be transferred to PayPal, cash, or a free gift card.

I particularly like that Survey Junkie is easy to use and that they don’t spam me with a bunch of emails. Plus, it’s hard to run out of survey invitations since they offer so many.

Eligibility: Survey Junkie is 100% free and they make it easy to sign up with Facebook, Google+, or any email address. Members need to be 13 or older and reside in the United States, Canada, or Australia (if you live in California, you must be at least 16 years old).

5. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a fun rewards program that allows you to earn points by shopping online, searching the web, watching videos, etc. Additionally, you can use Swagbucks to take surveys for money. It’s really simple.

If you decide that the surveys for money aren’t quite worth your time, at minimum you can use the Swagbucks search engine to do your regular daily web browsing. It’s a no-brainer because you’re doing that activity anyway—may as well get paid for it!

Once you sign up to become a free Swagbucks member, you can start taking surveys to share opinions and earn Swagbucks (SB) points. Points can be redeemed for cash back or free gift cards.

SwagBucks offers tens of thousands of paid survey opportunities each day. As a platform, it’s one of the biggest and most legitimate survey companies available.

Eligibility: The minimum age requirement to join Swagbucks is 13 years old. But they strongly advise that any minor should get permission from a parent or guardian before registering and looking at survey opportunities.

6. MyPoints

MyPoints, like InboxDollars, is a platform that allows you to earn gift cards for answering questions, taking polls, watching videos, and many other online activities (even shopping!).

What I like about MyPoints is that you earn points even when you don’t qualify for a given survey, and they offer a welcome bonus of either a $10 Amazon gift card or a $10 Visa gift card.

What I don’t like is that many offers will navigate you away from the MyPoints portal and onto third-party sites, which can be less intuitive than some of the other platforms.

Eligibility: From the MyPoints terms and conditions, it appears you need to be at least 13 years old to register, but if you are under 18 they advise using the site with a parent or legal guardian.

7. Opinion Outpost

A company with a low payout threshold and straightforward design, Opinion Outpost is easy for paid survey beginners. It works on a points system, and you can cash out to your PayPal account or gift cards, making it flexible too.

They have a pretty high number of paid online surveys available on any given day, increasing the odds that you’ll qualify for at least a few. But, the average earning is fairly low. If you can only commit to one site, then Opinion Outpost is certainly worth exploring.

Eligibility: Opinion Outpost is 100% free to join and open to anyone over 17 years old.

8. Pinecone Research

Pinecone Research is one of the most coveted paid online survey sites around.

Every survey pays a minimum of $3, and they usually only take about 15 minutes to complete. Plus, you may get a chance to do product testing (you get to keep the items), which can be fun. The trick is that Pinecone Research can be hard to qualify for because they restrict access to only certain demographics (which change based on who they’re targeting at the time).

Additionally, each survey is invite-only, so you typically get just a few survey opportunities a month. Fortunately, you’re guaranteed to qualify for the surveys you take. They’ll send you pre-qualification questions each month. After filling those out, you’ll only be sent surveys for which you qualify. So, unlike the other sites, there’s no worry about wasting time on a survey only to find out you’ve been disqualified.

As one of the highest ROI survey sites, I definitely recommend applying to the platform if you fall into one or more of the following demographics:

  • Ages 18-24
  • Male
  • Hispanic
  • Asian
  • High school-level education or less

Even if you don’t fit these demographics, Pinecone is still worth signing up for anyway, because membership is free and the target audience changes constantly.

Regular Member Eligibility: Pinecone Research is available in the United States, UK, Canada, Germany, and France, and has a minimum age of 18 to sign up.

9. Toluna

Toluna is a survey app based around the theme of brands; they boast that you can use the surveys as a chance to let your opinion be known and influence companies.

There’s the chance to participate in daily lotteries through the app, too. This gives you the chance to win a million points (around $300). It also has a social side; various members report they enjoy the community.

You can receive your balance as a PayPal cash transfer or a gift card. Be careful not to leave your points building up too much, though—they’ll expire after you earn them.

Eligibility: Membership in any Toluna panel is free and open to individuals above the age of 17.

10. Vindale Research

Unlike many other paid survey sites, Vindale Research doesn’t use points. Instead, they display the compensation in cash, making it easy to see exactly what you can earn.

The paid surveys can make you anywhere between $0.50 and $50, depending on the length (or time requirement), topic, and demographic criteria. Not a ton of extra income, but it all adds up over time.

Vindale also has other earning opportunities besides surveys, giving you a little variety.

Eligibility: Vindale requires you to be at least 18 years old and from the United States, UK, or Australia.

11. Ipsos i-Say Panel

One of the largest online survey sites, i-Say by Ipsos lets you earn points that you can redeem, typically for Amazon gift cards, PayPal, cash, or merchandise. Plus, all members are entered into prize draws, which is a nice bonus feature.

Comparatively speaking, the minimum reward threshold is pretty low, so you can actually get gift cards pretty fast. You can also use your points to purchase merchandise like home items, sports gear, beauty products, or other equipment. If you don’t have enough points to cover the purchase of an item, you can just pay the difference in cash from your PayPal account. This is an awesome feature, because you can always put your points to use, no matter how small.

Another cool thing about Ipsos i-Say is that they offer loyalty points as you hit survey milestones. For example, after completing 5 surveys, you get 25 points. At 100 surveys, you get 300 points. They also offer many sweepstakes opportunities and other fun contests for prizes.

One downside, however, is that the surveys themselves don’t offer the highest compensation rates. So keep that in mind before signing up.

Eligibility: You must be 18 years or older and reside in the United States.

12. OneOpinion

With one of the fastest signup processes around, you’re ready to be paid to take surveys on OneOpinion in as little as a minute. You’ll earn points as you complete them, with 1,000 points equaling $1.

Once you get up to 25,000 points, which is equal to $25, you can request a withdrawal for the money. You can get gift cards or a PayPal account transfer, giving you some flexibility regarding how you want to be compensated.

Something very important to note about OneOpinion is that if you don’t take any surveys for a 90 day period, your account will be switched to an “inactive status.” If you still have no account activity for a further 90 days (180 days total), they will remove your account completely and you’ll forfeit any of the credits or points in your account. Keep this in mind when you sign up and start building points. You don’t want to lose your hard earned cash due to inactivity.

Eligibility: OneOpinion requires you to be at least 13 years old, and if you are under 18 years of age, you must get parental consent to join and use the site.

13. Survey Club

Survey Club is a bit different from other companies. Instead of hosting paid surveys themselves, they act as a middleman or marketplace to help connect users with available studies. While you earn money through Survey Club, the paid surveys are technically hosted elsewhere.

This means you might make less than if you took the survey through the primary site, but it can also save you a lot of time, making it a potentially worthwhile tradeoff.

In addition to paid online surveys, they also present local market research offers. These are tailor picked for you based on your demographics, and are neatly presented in your “available offers” page after creating a free profile.

What I like about Survey Club is they take a lot of the search work out of the picture so you can easily find the surveys and market research you’re most interest in. This also saves you from joining multiple surveys for money sites, as some of them are shown to you within the Survey Club system.

Eligibility: To open a Survey Club account, you’ll need to be at least 16 years old. But because of PayPal’s regulations, you’ll need to be 18 to earn cash. If you’re between 16 and 18, you can just get Amazon gift card rewards.

14. Harris Poll Online

Harris Poll is one of the oldest and most trusted polls in the world. Their research is so prestigious it is regularly used for large national and international studies.

Getting started on Harris Poll Online takes a little longer than some other paid surveys platforms, but their clean interface makes it worth the effort. Once you gather enough points, you can cash out for gift cards or e-vouchers. You can also donate your points to charity, which is a fairly unique option.

One other cool feature is that Harris Poll has sweepstakes competitions that you get entered into automatically, even if you get disqualified through an individual survey process.

Eligibility: You need to be over 13 years old to register.

15. Valued Opinions

One of the larger market research groups, Valued Opinions, offers points that can be converted to gift cards as compensation. While you might not see a lot of surveys, your odds of qualifying for the ones you do see are relatively high.

The Valued Opinions platform uses your profile information to help match you to opportunities, so you only see relevant paid surveys on your dashboard. The site is also fully mobile-responsive, so you can take surveys and even update your profile information on the go.

In most cases, you earn between $1 and $5 for each paid online survey, and they take around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Not bad at all! When you get emailed a new survey invitation, they include information on approximately how long the survey will take, as well as the survey deadline to respond.

Eligibility: Membership is open to residents of the United States over the age of 17.

16. Google Opinion Rewards

Google offer surveys for money too! Their free app, Google Opinion Rewards, is available in both the Google Play store as well as the Apple App Store.

This is one of my favorite survey apps. Although the pay per survey is quite low, the time it takes to complete is typically less than 20 seconds. The are no ads, no hoops to jump through, and the questions are all multiple choice.

From my experience, the frequency of available surveys is quite low. But if you have notifications enabled on your cell phone, the app will alert you every time a new survey is available. Once you get notified, you have 24 hours to complete the questions.

Eligibility: You must have a valid Google account and be over the age of 18.

Ultimate Surveys for Money ROI Calculator

Once you’re signed up and ready to take surveys, use this ROI calculator to prioritize surveys to complete first. This will help you identify the highest paid activities.

The key to success is to only take surveys that have the highest time-to-point (payout) ratio. It’s important to identify the surveys that will pay the most for the least amount of time.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve probably got questions about these sites—why they’re offering easy money for surveys, and if they’re legit. Check out the frequently asked questions below for answers and other useful information.

Are paid surveys legit?

Short answer: Yes, you can get paid for taking surveys online. These best survey sites are an awesome way to make extra money during downtimes. They will not make you rich, but they can supplement income when you need money fast. The best part is that taking surveys can be done on your smartphone from anywhere, at any time.

However, you couldn’t make a living by only taking surveys for money. If you’re looking to develop a more sustainable, truly wealth-building side hustle for extra income, then check out our article on the best side hustles.

How much money can you make taking surveys online?

Ultimately, it’s a side hustle that can fit into most people’s schedules, but the compensation isn’t usually very high. Sure, there are some that pay $50, $100, $200, or even more, but they are incredibly rare. But realistically, most come in between $0.25 and $5 per survey.

Do you get paid immediately after each survey?

These sites all have a minimum payout threshold, as listed in the summary above. This means you’ll need to continue completing surveys and building up points, then cash out all those points once the threshold is met. You will accrue the points immediately after each completed activity, but have to meet the minimum before turning the points into cash.

How do you get paid?

Most online survey sites let you build up “points” which represent a certain dollar value. Once you have enough points to meet the minimum payout threshold, you can convert those points to real dollars. Usually, you get to decide the way you want to be paid.

Here are the most common ways survey websites pay you:

  • Gift cards (virtual or posted to you)
  • PayPal cash
  • Bank transfer (mostly for USA residents)
  • Check in the mail
  • Donate to charity instead of paying you
  • Amazon gift card

How long does it take to complete an online survey?

Most surveys for money take about 15 – 20 minutes to complete. But, some of the more thorough and targeted surveys can take up to an hour. Typically each site will tell you approximately how long the survey will take, before you accept and start the job.

Is it just surveys for money, or are there other paid activities?

Although surveys are the most common thing these sites are known for, they also offer a bunch of extra ways to make money. You can get paid to watch promotional videos, do online shopping, use a specific search engine for web browsing, provide product feedback, or even participate in mystery shopping.

Each site offers different types of opportunities and compensates you differently. It’s best to check within each of the survey sites above and their individual reviews to see the best activities to get paid.

Which survey sites offer instant cash or a welcome bonus?

For new memberships, some survey sites offer a signing bonus or instant cash just to create a profile. Swagbucks ($20), InboxDollars ($20), and MyPoints ($10) all currently offer welcome points or sign up rewards. But these offers change from time to time.

Also, check out this article for other sites that offer sign up bonuses: 20 ways to get free money fast.

Why do companies pay you to take surveys?

Many brands, companies, and organizations from around the world are continuously seeking the opinions of people like you to shape the products they develop and how they ultimately market them. They count on paid online surveys to provide them with reliable information.

Offering surveys for money is a way to get information directly from individuals, without having to pay for an expensive market research company.

How old do I have to be to take surveys for money?

Almost all survey websites allow anyone 18 and older to join. But, some select sites allow kids as young as 13 to complete activities with a parent or guardian. It’s best to read all the terms of each site before signing up.

How do I avoid survey scams?

First of all, you should never enter personal information into any website that you are not comfortable with.

Many survey websites have ads that if clicked can lead to different websites asking for additional personal information. Be alert when taking all online surveys to make sure you’re not accidentally navigating away from the primary survey tool you started on.

All of the survey sites that we recommend on Millennial Money are legit survey sites, but they can lead you places that aren’t as secure. For safety’s sake, follow these warnings:

  • Don’t overshare personal info like your SSN.
  • Set up a new email account just for these survey sites.
  • Install anti-virus software on your device before signing up
  • Take breaks. It can take longer than you think.
  • Don’t pay to take surveys.
  • Remember you won’t get paid quickly.
  • Don’t depend on the income. There are better gigs out there.

How can I make the most money taking online surveys?

First, make sure you’re only spending time on the best paid survey sites—reputable companies with a steady stream of new surveys, reliable payouts, and favorable cash-out terms.

Next (and this is important) focus on surveys with a high payout to time requirement ratio. If you’re taking hundreds of surveys across dozens of platforms only to receive small payouts, you’re wasting your time.

Instead, consider the ROI of each survey. The better the ROI, the better your survey side hustle game.

Are paid surveys worth it?

Regardless of which paid survey site you use… the earnings can be pretty low. And most require you to earn a certain dollar amount or number of points before they’ll pay out. So consider carefully if it’s worth it to you to potentially make less than the federal minimum wage on your time spent taking surveys.

This is also why we recommend taking surveys while commuting on the bus or train or sitting in front of the TV—might as well maximize time you can’t spend any other way!

What types of paid online surveys can I take?

There are lots of different kinds of online surveys for money: advertising effectiveness surveys, brand recognition surveys, product appeal surveys, surveys about services, or even being part of a specific focus group.

You won’t qualify for every survey. This means you could spend a few minutes on one only to get rejected, and you don’t earn anything for that time. Some online survey sites are awful. They are spammy and will bombard you with emails. Furthermore, many ask invasive questions about political opinions and income status. Lame!

However, if you focus on the options above, you can increase your earning potential and give yourself a way to make a little extra in your spare time. Plus, if you opt to test products along the way, you can also get some free stuff. Fun!

The Bottom Line

These 16 survey sites we recommend are the most legit. Doing surveys for money online is a great way to make a few extra bucks. But it’s not going to make you rich. Be sure to maximize your ROI by using our Surveys For Money ROI Calculator.

I hope this post has given you some great methods to be more effective when taking surveys for money.

Once you get to the Gold or Platmum level you will start to see the higher paying surveys in the $200 and even $600 range I only have got one $600 survey and it was a panel survey online that went on for 4 weeks but you can get them that pay that high.

One do 12 or more surveys a day for 4 weeks or more and update your profile %100 and you cannot just stop doing surveys until you hit your goal it can take 3 to 4 weeks but worth it. You have to get the trust of the company first before you get the biggest surveys and get to the point of being a gold member is a must.
